The Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers (CMSC) is inviting researchers and healthcare professionals to submit abstracts to be presented at its 31st Annual Meeting, focusing on developments in multiple sclerosis (MS) research, patient care and treatment outcomes.
The 2017 CMSC meeting, organized by the group’s Continuing Professional Education Committee, will take place May 24–27 in New Orleans.
All healthcare professionals are welcome to submit abstracts, and are not required to be members of CMSC or to be sponsored by a member. Submissions that reflect collaboration between medical specialties are encouraged by the organization committee.
Categories include diagnosis & prognosis, mental health and psychosocial issues, comprehensive clinical care, epidemiology, and patient reported outcomes, according to a press release. More information is available on the release and the CMSC meeting website.
The deadline for abstract submissions is Dec. 16, and authors will be notified of their acceptance by Jan. 31. Those submitting abstracts must be able to attend the meeting.
Abstracts will be published in a special edition of the International Journal of MS Care (IJMSC), and distributed during the annual meeting. They will also be available for online on the CMSC meeting website. The organization committee will also award abstracts with outstanding findings.
Students, post-doctoral fellows and young investigators are also encouraged to submit their work for the Whitaker Research Track presentations, set for Friday, May 26. The presentation panel will be headed by Dr. Michael Racke and will award the Whitaker Prize for MS Research. The prize honors John N. Whitaker, an MS researcher who encouraged young scientists to enter the field.
“The CMSC Annual Meeting is a unique educational forum where the entire healthcare team, professionals in training and scientists can learn about the latest advancements in MS patient care, research and treatment that will expand their knowledge of this complex disease and positively impact patient care,” June Halper, the CMSC’s chief executive officer, said in the release. “The Poster and Platform presentations are a highpoint of the Annual Meeting since these sessions give all delegates a chance to learn about programs and research conducted by their colleagues. We look forward to offering our learners high caliber content and fresh approaches to MS comprehensive care.”
