Listeria outbreak linked to deli meat and cheese

Listeria outbreak linked to deli meat and cheese

Advisory for People with MS

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has posted an alert that some cold deli meats and cheese sold in 6 states have been shown to be contaminated with the Listeria bacteria.  This has led to one reported death and multiple hospitalizations.  People who are immunosuppressed, such as by several of the drugs used in people with MS, and pregnant women are vulnerable to Listeria infections.  We advise you to  check with your clinician if you may have been exposed to contaminated foods or are uncertain as to whether you are being treated with medications that could increase your risks from this infection.  For further information please visit https://www.cdc.gov/listeria/outbreaks/deli-11-22/index.html
